According to overseas media MacRumors, analyst Jeff Pu from Haitong International Securities believes that Apple plans to implement generative AI technology on iPhones and iPads as early as the end of 2024.

Jeff Pu stated in his research report that his supply chain investigations indicate Apple will set up hundreds of AI servers over the next two years to achieve this functionality.

Jeff Pu believes that Apple will adopt a combined approach of cloud-based and on-device solutions. However, since Apple is still determining how to legally and compliantly use customer personal data, it will take some time before we see "Apple GPT".

If the plan proceeds as scheduled, Apple is likely to introduce generative AI features starting with iOS 18 and iPadOS 18, though it remains unclear how the technology will be utilized.

According to a report last month by The Information, Apple plans to integrate large language models into Siri to enable the automatic execution of complex tasks, with this feature expected to be released in next year's iPhone software update.

Mark Gurman has previously mentioned that Apple is internally testing an "Apple GPT" chatbot similar to ChatGPT.

The CEO of Apple stated in an interview last month: We have been working on generative artificial intelligence for many years and have conducted extensive research.

We will approach it thoughtfully and consider it deeply, as we are well aware it could potentially be used for harmful purposes.
