Baidu to Launch AI-Powered 'New Search' with Listening, Understanding, and Visual Capabilities

Baidu World 2023 is scheduled for October 17, where the company will showcase its products rebuilt with large models. At the pre-event media briefing, Baidu Group Vice Presidents Xiao Yang and Wang Fengyang shared updates on Baidu's mobile ecosystem advancements in AI-native applications and hinted at significant new products to be launched.
First, Baidu Search has made notable progress in AI-native applications. By combining semantic retrieval technology with large language models, Baidu Search has achieved new capabilities and ecosystem enhancements. The new Baidu Search is an innovative AI-interactive search system featuring listening, understanding, and visual capabilities. Its strengths manifest in three key areas: ultimate satisfaction, recommendation stimulation, and multi-turn interaction. Leveraging large model capabilities, Baidu Search can automatically retrieve, refine, and deliver optimal answers. After fulfilling user queries, it prioritizes high-quality, personalized content streams. Through multi-turn interactions, it progressively refines and clarifies questions for a more tailored experience.
Second, Baidu is building a new AI ecosystem. The company has introduced the Lingjing Matrix Plugin Platform to enrich the Baidu Search ecosystem. This plugin mechanism expands the boundaries of large model capabilities and is crucial for constructing a large model application ecosystem. Currently, over 20,000 developers have applied to join the Lingjing Matrix Plugin Platform, covering more than 20 fields.
Meanwhile, Baidu Wenku will upgrade to an "all-in-one intelligent document platform." Baidu stated that Wenku now implements 2-3 new feature iterations weekly. In the past month alone, it has launched several "killer features" such as document-to-PPT generation, text-to-chart creation and analysis, PPT chart generation, and intelligent document summarization and Q&A. The platform leads the industry in content accuracy, richness, and generation speed, with documents being immediately usable.
Additionally, Baidu is restructuring its commercial ecosystem. Baidu Marketing will introduce a new AI Native commercial panorama application, including the AI Native marketing platform 'Qing Ge,' brand BOT, intelligent merchant management platform, and the generative AI era marketing methodology 'AIA Marketing Science.' The newly released AI commercial engine will be built on generative AI technology, comprehensively reconstructing Baidu's commercial products and solutions to form a closed loop from branding to content, operations, and results. Baidu Marketing will also extend broader and deeper collaboration invitations to ecosystem partners to integrate generative AI applications in the marketing field.
