OpenAI hosted a grand event called the 'ChatGPT App Development Competition,' which attracted active participation from 226 teams, making it a highly anticipated contest.

In this competition, OpenAI focused on the field of generative AI (AIGC), aiming to promote the development and practical application of large language models (LLMs), particularly ChatGPT. The event was widely welcomed, with a total of 226 teams actively registering to participate. The total prize pool amounted to 100 million KRW, approximately 540,000 RMB. After multiple rounds of evaluation, 20 teams advanced to the finals, with 'Born to be Prompters' and 'Team Hyper' winning the first prize.

The event was held in Seoul and received support and hosting from SKT, one of the world's largest telecommunications companies. Ryu Young-sang, President and CEO of SKT, stated that with the rapid development of generative AI technology, more outstanding products like ChatGPT will emerge, bringing benefits to human society. This collaboration highlights SKT's confidence in the development of generative AI.

The judging panel for the competition included experts such as James Dyett, OpenAI's Strategic Account Manager, and Jung Seok-geun, SKT's Global AI Leader. They evaluated the functionality and practical application of the participants' works.

The winning teams' applications also garnered significant attention. The 'Born to be Prompters' team developed a generative AI application called Glesom, which helps individuals with autism simplify complex sentences and reduces their difficulties in understanding symbolic or metaphorical language. The 'Team Hyper' team developed a generative AI application named Jikimi, which analyzes phone calls, emails, and text messages to alert users to potential security risks, enhancing their safety awareness.

To promote the development of domestic ChatGPT-like applications, the AIGC Open Community has collaborated with several large model manufacturers and tech enterprises to jointly initiate this large model developer competition. The event is divided into two categories: "Creativity" and "Application," aiming to stimulate innovation and practical implementation of large model technology and drive progress across the industry.

Not only can corporate developers, research institutions, and universities participate in the competition, but university teams are also encouraged to invite advisors to join. The registration deadline is October 22, 2023. Interested participants can scan the official QR code or visit the competition's official website to register.
