Meta recently announced a massive investment in the field of celebrity AI to create AI twins of famous personalities. According to a report by The Information, Meta has signed a top creator with a contract worth up to $5 million for a two-year term, including six hours of work.

This move highlights Meta's significant interest in celebrity AI personas, which will be based on well-known figures like Snoop Dogg, Tom Brady, and Charli D'Amelio.

Currently, these AI personas primarily appear as text-based chatbots on Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger. However, according to sources, they will soon feature voice capabilities, expected to launch early next year. This will provide users with a richer and more interactive experience, making these AI personas even more engaging.

This investment could set an important benchmark in the field of digital identity licensing. While there have been precedents for digital identity licensing, Meta's substantial investment and the high value of celebrity contracts will further drive growth in this market. It may also encourage other tech giants to invest in similar projects.
