On February 27, at the 2024 Mobile World Congress, Microsoft President Brad Smith announced the company's new AI Access Principles (AI Access Principles), which will guide Microsoft's future expansion in the field of artificial intelligence.

Smith wrote in a blog post: "The principles we announced today represent the largest investment, partnerships, and plans to promote innovation and competition in Microsoft's 49-year history. By releasing these principles, we are committed to providing broad access to technology, enabling organizations and individuals worldwide to develop and use AI in ways that serve the public interest."

It is noted that Microsoft has announced 11 AI access principles, divided into three major sections:

Empowering Developers: Microsoft will continue to expand its infrastructure to support the training and use of AI models while providing software application developers with a wide range of AI models and tools. Choice Provision: Microsoft will provide developers with public API access and offer unified public APIs for network operators. Developers can choose how to sell, distribute, and use their AI models on Microsoft Azure services, with Microsoft committing to simplify the process for developers transitioning from Azure to other cloud development platforms. Additionally, Microsoft guarantees not to use non-public data from any AI models that developers utilize on Azure.

Security and Responsibility: Microsoft will strive to ensure AI models and data centers are protected from physical and cyber threats, applying its own "Responsible AI Standard" to safeguard AI's safety, fairness, and privacy. Simultaneously, Microsoft will invest in global AI skills training programs. Finally, the company is committed to operating its AI data servers in an environmentally sustainable manner.
