Musk Claims Tesla's Video Generation Technology Surpasses OpenAI's Sora
-
On Sunday evening, Tesla's founder and CEO Elon Musk posted on social media, claiming that Tesla's video generation technology leads globally, even surpassing artificial intelligence company OpenAI's Sora. This statement has drawn widespread attention, particularly in the autonomous driving technology sector.
Musk had previously hinted in a post a day earlier that Tesla had mastered video generation technology similar to OpenAI's a year ago. On Sunday evening, he responded to a user's question on social media, stating that Tesla has been capable of generating real-world videos with precise physics for about a year. He added that the key to this technology lies in its ability to predict highly accurate physical scenarios, which is crucial for autonomous driving technology.
Shortly afterward, Musk shared several autonomous driving videos created by Tesla a year ago, simulating real-world scenarios to demonstrate the technology's capabilities. He explained that although these videos are dynamically generated, they look like real Tesla footage because all the training data comes from the cars. Musk responded to a user's suggestion, stating that Tesla had previously considered developing a video game where players could earn points and badges by solving engineering problems. However, he noted that Tesla could only launch such a game after releasing the unsupervised Full Self-Driving (FSD) system, as unsupervised FSD is safer than supervised FSD.
Tesla's move is seen as a challenge to competitors in the autonomous driving field, while also prompting reflections and anticipation about the future development of autonomous driving technology.
