First Trojan Virus on iOS System Uses AI Technology to Infiltrate Users' Financial Apps

A cybersecurity company recently released a new report revealing a new type of Trojan virus called GoldPickaxe, which targets iPhone users with unprecedented banking Trojan attacks. This virus was originally the GoldDigger Trojan targeting the Android platform, but hackers upgraded and modified it, not only enhancing its functionality but also expanding its reach to iOS devices.
Since October 2023, when the cybersecurity company first discovered this new variant, it has been named GoldPickaxe. Research shows that once iPhones and Android phones are infected with GoldPickaxe, the Trojan quickly collects users' facial recognition data, identity documents, and intercepted text messages. With this information, hackers can easily infiltrate users' banking and other financial applications to illegally obtain funds.
What is even more concerning is that the GoldPickaxe Trojan not only collects users' sensitive data but also uses artificial intelligence technology to 'impersonate' users to access bank accounts and other financial-related accounts, further stealing funds. Currently, hackers are mainly conducting exploratory attacks in Vietnam and Thailand. However, as the number of victims continues to grow, they seem to have begun expanding their attack scope, targeting iPhone and Android users in the United States, Canada, and other English-speaking countries. This incident poses a severe security challenge for Apple users and serves as a reminder for all to remain vigilant and strengthen device security to prevent similar Trojan virus attacks. Meanwhile, cybersecurity companies are actively addressing this challenge, striving to develop more effective protective measures to safeguard users' personal privacy and financial security.
