According to preliminary data released by South Korea's Ministry of Science and ICT on February 15, the country's ICT exports in January reached $16.35 billion, a year-on-year increase of 25.1%, driven by semiconductor exports. ICT exports have grown year-on-year for three consecutive months. During the same period, ICT imports amounted to $11.85 billion, a decrease of 3.2% year-on-year.

Semiconductor exports in January totaled $9.41 billion, a significant increase of 53% year-on-year, nearly three times the growth rate of December last year (19.3%). Among these, memory chip exports ($5.27 billion) surged 90.5% year-on-year, boosting overall ICT exports.

Benefiting from increased exports of high-value-added panels, display exports rose 2.6% year-on-year to $1.5 billion. Exports of computers and peripherals (33.6%) and communication equipment (27.6%) also increased. In contrast, mobile phone exports fell 20.1% year-on-year to $1.1 billion.
