According to reports, the Spark Cognitive Model V3.5 has significantly improved in core capabilities such as logical reasoning, language understanding, text generation, mathematical problem-solving, coding, and multimodal understanding. Among these, language understanding and mathematical abilities have surpassed GPT-4 Turbo, coding capability has reached 96% of GPT-4 Turbo, and multimodal understanding has achieved 91% of GPT-4V.
Generative AI has brought obvious benefits to the development of cloud computing, and this trend has also provided development opportunities for technology companies. Especially for giants like Lenovo Group, which have deep technical expertise and significant investments in AI and cloud computing, they may encounter new opportunities during industry transformations.
IDC predicts that by 2025, 50% of enterprises will establish strategic relationships with cloud providers of GenAI (Generative AI) platforms, requiring new enterprise controls for data and cost governance in developer tools and infrastructure. In the process of enterprise digital transformation, the speed, agility, and scalability needed for intelligence are built on cloud foundations.
Generative AI Industry Investment Prospects Forecast Research
As an important part of the cloud computing landscape, Lenovo Group has long been involved in the hybrid cloud sector. In 2022, Lenovo Group launched the hybrid cloud brand Lenovo xCloud, focusing on four major product families: cloud-native, intelligent operations, private cloud, and multi-cloud management, along with nine general solutions covering all scenarios of customer 'cloud building, cloud migration, cloud usage, and cloud management.' Currently, Lenovo's hybrid cloud solutions have served more than 100 leading domestic and international enterprises across multiple industries including manufacturing, energy, and finance. For instance, in Gansu Province, Lenovo Group assisted Zijin Cloud with design, construction, and subsequent operation and maintenance, while also helping Zijin Cloud expand its business, delivering tangible empowerment effects for enterprises. With the support of Lenovo's hybrid cloud, Zijin Cloud became the first commercial high-performance computing platform in Gansu Province.
Generative AI is an artificial intelligence technology that utilizes machine learning models and deep learning techniques to generate new content by studying patterns in historical data. This content can be in the form of text, images, audio, or video.
Unlike traditional AI that generates outputs based on given rules or data, generative AI autonomously creates entirely new content, similar to human creativity. A notable example is the widely discussed chatbot ChatGPT, which employs the core GPT-3 model to generate high-quality natural language text for applications such as chatting, writing, and automated customer service.
Following the intense competition among numerous models in 2023, the focus in 2024 has shifted to the practical implementation of large models. Recently, OpenAI officially announced the launch of the GPT Store, where users have already created over 3 million GPTs. The interface of OpenAI's GPT Store resembles modern mobile app stores, featuring sections such as 'Featured Apps of the Week,' 'Most Popular GPTs in the Community,' and 'GPTs Created by the ChatGPT Team.'
Lu Yanxia, Research Director at IDC China, believes that currently viable and profitable models include office scenarios such as meeting transcription, meeting summaries, and digital avatars. The revenue growth of generative AI will be reflected in the subscription fees for collaborative office software and meeting software. In internet industries such as gaming, entertainment, and live streaming, text-to-image AI-assisted graphic design is expected to be implemented relatively quickly. Lu Yanxia believes this is because these applications have no standardized requirements for AI-generated results and maintain a certain level of tolerance.
With the implementation of generative AI applications, AI terminals will also experience rapid development. IDC predicts that by 2024, over 70% of terminal devices in the Chinese market will be equipped with AI functions, with AI terminals accounting for 55%.
Among these, AI smartphones will see significant growth in their proportion of AI terminals in 2024 and gradually become the most widely equipped AI terminal. Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon also predicted in a previous interview that 2024 will be a pivotal year for global AI smartphones.
Lu Yanxia believes that in the next 2-3 years, generative AI has the potential to disrupt business models in professional services, education, healthcare and life sciences, as well as media. Additionally, with the redefinition and enhancement of virtual content, the metaverse is expected to revive, while form-based application computing will begin to decline.
Generative AI Industry Prospects
The development direction of the generative AI industry in the coming years will mainly focus on technological advancements and algorithm optimization, expansion of application scenarios, innovation in commercialization models, data security and privacy protection, as well as interdisciplinary integration and development. Generative AI technology is still in the process of continuous development and improvement. In the coming years, the industry will continue to innovate and refine in areas such as algorithm optimization, model training, and dataset quality to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of generative AI.
As generative AI technology matures and becomes more widely applied, the industry will gradually expand its application scenarios. In the next few years, generative AI will be increasingly utilized across various fields, such as intelligent customer service, smart homes, and intelligent manufacturing, providing intelligent and efficient solutions and services for different industries.
The development of the generative AI industry will bring about innovation and transformation in business models. In the future, the industry will form a more open, collaborative, and mutually beneficial ecosystem, offering comprehensive, efficient, and personalized solutions and services to enterprises, thereby driving industrial upgrades and innovation.
