Multiple Listed Companies Advance AI+5G Integrated Scenario Applications

Recently, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued the 'Notice on Strengthening Device-Network Collaboration to Promote the Large-Scale Development of 5G Messaging' (Draft for Comments) (hereinafter referred to as the 'Notice'). It calls for basic telecom enterprises and mobile phone manufacturers to actively explore commercial and technical cooperation models that meet market demands in areas such as 5G messaging technology and product innovation, business integration and ecosystem openness, and network and information security risk prevention, forming a joint effort to promote the large-scale commercial development of 5G messaging.
The large-scale commercialization of 5G messaging is regarded as a significant transformation in the telecommunications industry. 'The large-scale rollout of 5G messaging will modernize traditional SMS, accelerate the release of 5G innovation dividends. Telecom operators and mobile phone manufacturers will play a market-driven role, leveraging 5G innovation to boost growth in the ICT industry on one hand and stimulate information consumption on the other, generating significant spillover and multiplier effects across the telecommunications supply chain,' said Ma Bo, a global telecommunications industry analyst, in an interview with Securities Daily.
Currently, many companies have entered the 5G messaging industry chain. On July 20, regarding 5G communications, a senior executive from China Unicom told Securities Daily, 'Operators have completed all technical preparations for the large-scale commercialization of 5G messaging and will continue to strengthen cooperation with smart terminal manufacturers such as mobile phone companies.' A Huawei representative stated that there are currently no mass-produced mobile products related to 5G messaging, but the company will respond actively if conditions permit in the future.
5G Messaging Market Size
Expected to Reach Hundreds of Billions of Yuan
5G messaging is a rich media information service based on mobile communication networks. Promoting the innovative development and large-scale application of 5G messaging is of great significance for enriching 5G application scenarios and service offerings, as well as driving the high-quality development of the digital economy. To further strengthen device-network collaboration, support the large-scale development of 5G messaging, and protect user rights, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has formulated arrangements to enhance device-network collaboration for the large-scale development of 5G messaging.
The 'Notice' requires promoting support for new devices. A six-month transition period begins from the date of the Notice's issuance, during which mobile phone manufacturers must complete system design and functional upgrades for planned 5G phone releases in accordance with relevant industry standards and network access testing regulations. After the transition period, new 5G phones applying for network access permits must support 5G messaging and provide relevant network access test reports. For existing devices, manufacturers are encouraged to upgrade systems to enable 5G messaging functionality for 5G phone models that applied for network access before the transition period ends.
“Enhancing end-to-network collaborative development and promoting unified standards will facilitate the large-scale commercial deployment of 5G messaging, while continuously strengthening China’s voice in the global 5G application market. The commercialization of 5G messaging also reflects consumers’ upgraded demands in the communication sector,” said Xiang Ligang, Chairman of the Information Consumption Alliance, in an interview with Securities Daily.
From the perspective of Kang Zhao, CEO of Operator Finance Network, 5G messaging represents a revolution in SMS, breaking the length limitations of traditional text messages. “Regulatory requirements for new 5G phones to support 5G messaging and provide test reports standardize the industry. As the mobile phone market has entered a stock phase, guiding terminal upgrades will accelerate the rise of the 5G messaging commercial market. Mobile manufacturers must prepare technologically in advance and strengthen collaboration with operators.”
With the commercialization of 5G messaging, its vast market potential is gradually unfolding. Huachuang Securities noted in a research report that 5G messaging has entered a fast lane of development. By 2025–2027, integrated with cloud, big data, and AI technologies, the market size of 5G messaging is expected to reach 300 billion yuan.
Multiple Listed Companies Drive 5G and AI Integration
As 5G messaging rapidly evolves, numerous players are entering the field to build its ecosystem. Currently, nearly 100 A-share listed companies, including神州泰岳 (Ultrapower Software), 初灵信息 (Chuling Information), and 财讯股份 (Caixun), are involved in 5G messaging-related businesses. Many are actively integrating AI with 5G to advance the industry chain.
A senior executive from China Unicom stated, “The large-scale commercialization of 5G messaging fosters closer cooperation between operators and mobile manufacturers. Operators will deepen collaboration with smart terminal manufacturers and 5G messaging application providers, leveraging AI for differentiated competition.”
Industry analysts suggest that traditional SMS service providers like 梦网科技 (Montnets) and 吴通控股 (Wutong Holding) stand to benefit, while companies such as 每日互动 (Daily Interactive) and 蓝色光标 (BlueFocus) in commercial marketing and big data analytics will further enhance 5G messaging functionalities. Currently, 5G messaging partnerships and applications span dozens of industries, including consumer, enterprise, finance, and retail. With AI integration, 5G messaging gaming content and RCS features on mobile terminals will become increasingly sophisticated and regularly updated.
With the rapid development of new technologies, generative AI represented by ChatGPT and 5G messaging will quickly integrate. Minsheng Securities believes that ChatGPT is expected to drive the business restructuring of 5G messaging, making it one of the best and fastest implementation scenarios for ChatGPT.
