360 Zhou Hongyi: In 2024, Large Models Will Be as Ubiquitous as PCs
-
On January 7th, at the 2023 Fengmaniu Year-End Show, Zhou Hongyi, founder of 360 Group, shared his ten predictions for the development trends of large models in 2024.
He urged enterprises to embrace an AI mindset and go all-in on AI. He believes that innovation is the key to breaking through challenges, and the greatest opportunities for innovation in the future lie in large models.
According to Zhou Hongyi, the specific development trends of large models in 2024 are as follows:
- Large models become standard in digital systems, ubiquitous. He does not consider large models to be operating systems, as there are only three major mobile operating systems worldwide: HarmonyOS, iOS, and Android.
He stated that large models are more like PCs in the past, becoming ubiquitous in the future and a standard for enterprise and government digitalization.
-
Open-source large models have exploded in popularity. For example, after the explosion of open-source large models, they quickly transitioned from being as rare as atomic bombs to as common as cabbages, making them accessible to everyone.
-
The emergence of "small models" running on more terminals.
Some media outlets have noted that many terminals have already adopted large models last year, such as smartphone manufacturers and smart home ecosystems. New energy vehicles have been identified by many terminal manufacturers as the next trend.
-
The enterprise market for large models will rise in 2024 (especially in China), with large models developing towards depth, industrialization, verticalization, and deep customization.
-
In terms of technological development and application, Agent intelligence will unlock the potential of large models, becoming a super productivity tool and driving continuous technological progress.
-
2024 will be the year for large model applications, with killer apps emerging. Zhou Hongyi stated that large models will appear in smart cars this year, not just pursuing device connectivity but also aiming for intelligent vehicle systems—not the so-called dumb conversations.
-
Multimodal capabilities will become a standard for large models. Large models with multimodal abilities will be the future norm, capable of understanding videos and images.
-
Text-to-image, text-to-video, and other AIGC functions have achieved breakthrough growth with the support of large models.
-
Embodied intelligence is empowering the flourishing development of the humanoid robot industry. Large models have revitalized the robotics industry, enabling robots to autonomously perform tasks like frying eggs and household chores with the support of large models.
-
He expects large models to drive breakthroughs in fundamental science.
It is reported that Zhou Hongyi also shared and exchanged insights with foreign counterparts on-site. He believes that the U.S. industry has already gone all-in on AI, seeking incremental markets through AI innovation.
He suggested that enterprises use "AI content" as a business performance indicator, such as the resource investment in AI by business departments, the concentration of talent, product conversion efficiency, and employees' familiarity with AI open-source projects and AI products.
He believes these metrics will enable enterprises to complete their digital and intelligent transformation.
