OpenAI CEO Reveals Most Requested ChatGPT Features for 2024
-
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman revealed the most frequently requested features for ChatGPT in 2024, which include artificial general intelligence, the GPT-5 language model, and more personalized requirements. These requests were responses to a question Altman posed to his followers on X (formerly Twitter), asking what they would like OpenAI to build or fix in 2024.
Among the users' wish lists, artificial general intelligence (AGI) and the GPT-5 language model stood out as some of the most notable mentions. Users also expressed desires for more personalized features and improved GPTs. This list was compiled by Altman based on user suggestions from social media, highlighting strong interest in the future development direction of ChatGPT.
Altman stated on X that OpenAI will strive to fulfill user demands, including other exciting items not listed. He emphasized OpenAI's commitment to innovation and meeting user expectations.
However, regarding Artificial General Intelligence (AGI), Altman made some hopeful yet realistic comments, noting that users need to be patient. He hinted that achieving AGI-level AI models by 2024 remains highly unlikely.
In an interview with TIME magazine, Altman revealed the limitless potential of the new technology: "I believe AGI will be the most powerful technology humans have invented to date... If you consider the cost of intelligence and the equality of intelligence, with costs decreasing and quality significantly improving, what people can do with it—this is a very different world. It's the world science fiction has long promised us, and I think for the first time we can see what it might look like," he added.
OpenAI recently announced the GPT-4 Turbo language model at its first developer conference, representing a significant upgrade to GPT-4 with knowledge of world events up to April 2023. Simultaneously, OpenAI stated it would allow users to create their own Generative Pre-trained Transformers (GPTs) and share them publicly, along with plans to launch a GPT Store to help verified developers monetize. However, the controversy surrounding Sam Altman's dismissal and subsequent rehiring at the AI company appears to have delayed the GPT Store's release until 2024.
OpenAI has made notable progress in meeting user needs and driving innovation in the AI field, although some plans may be affected by internal changes. In 2024, artificial general intelligence and more advanced language models remain the primary focus for users.
