InssentAI Provides AI Models for Legal Professionals, AI + Legal Consultation Can Efficiently Solve Many Problems
-
For the vast majority of users in need of legal assistance, 'legal consultation' is often a high-threshold matter. The legal industry also faces numerous pain points, with the most significant being 'lack of case sources'.
However, the pain points in lawyers' client acquisition go beyond just lacking leads. Not knowing how to effectively convert prospects is also a significant challenge. For instance, legal consultations often require payment, but clients are generally unwilling to pay for consulting with lawyers. Yet obtaining legal consultation is a crucial way to build trust, which can lay the foundation for subsequent paid services. Many lawyers, however, are typically unwilling to bear this opportunity cost, resulting in an inability to secure cases.
Against this backdrop, the InssentAI team was officially established in 2023. The founding team consists of professionals from diverse fields such as Yican, Baidu, Bitauto, and the legal industry. Through long-term research in legal technology and the integration of AI large model technology, they aim to bring more efficient customer acquisition models to the legal industry.
InssentAI CEO Wu Shijie told 36Kr: "InssentAI provides lawyers with a tool to quickly create their own legal AI assistants, offering free legal consultation services to potential clients to address simple legal issues. When encountering complex problems that may require lawyer services, the AI will guide clients to contact lawyers for resolution, making it an effective client acquisition tool."
From a product positioning perspective, InssentAI focuses on the front-end customer acquisition scenario for lawyers, bringing efficiency improvements to their client acquisition needs and ultimately achieving an S2B2C effect. End users (C-side) can conveniently access the service through multiple channels such as web pages, H5, and WeChat mini-programs.
In practice, the intervention of AI will to some extent change the workflow of the legal profession. Regarding this, Wu Shijie stated that AI may replace some low-value labor, such as the daily legal research work of lawyers. After legal database products enhance their existing functions with AI, lawyers can ask questions in natural language to obtain desired answers more efficiently or generate legal documents more effectively.
"However, the involvement of AI will only become a new component of legal services, and the original workflow of lawyers will not fundamentally change," said Wu Shijie.
On one hand, to make AI as professional as human lawyers and capable of directly solving clients' problems, it requires training with a large amount of high-quality legal-specific data, such as real case handling data from lawyers—how exactly are cases processed step by step? Although the legal industry has a vast amount of judicial judgment documents, this type of data lacks 'real-time' relevance, as the laws and regulations cited may become outdated, many case facts are not publicly available, and many legal issues do not require court resolution. Therefore, deducing solutions backward from judgment outcomes is neither the only nor the most effective approach.
On the other hand, China's large population base creates substantial demand for legal services. Currently, there are over 670,000 lawyers nationwide, and according to the Ministry of Justice's plan, this number is expected to reach 1 million by 2030. At present, the legal services market remains in a state of undersupply, with most people still preferring to communicate with human lawyers. Moreover, cutting-edge and complex legal issues still rely on the creativity of human lawyers, which also provides development space for InssentAI.
InssentAI is currently in its early launch phase, and the team will continue to refine its business model:
Subscription plan: ¥125 per person per month, with different discounts based on subscription duration.
Case Source Introduction Fee: For client leads converted through the official InssentAI account, the company can receive a lead introduction fee upon recommending them to lawyers. Additionally, upon successful conversion, the company earns a case source fee ranging from 20% to 50% of the final transaction amount.
Smart Hardware Fee: By integrating InssentAI with smart terminals (such as smart legal robot hardware devices deployed in offline courts), lawyers can purchase and include them in their service packages to sell to clients, thereby acquiring potential leads.
"InssentAI's future direction is an 'online lawyer platform', or a 'virtual law firm'. The front end consists of AI legal assistants in different fields, while the backend comprises real lawyers supporting these assistants to solve various legal issues for potential clients. This positioning differs from online legal consultation platforms, as InssentAI's focus is not directly helping lawyers acquire cases, but rather providing lawyers with tools to better acquire and convert clients," said Wu Shijie.
