iPhone 15 Pro Supports Spatial Video Recording, Requires Headset for Playback
-
Today, Apple released the iOS 17.2 Beta 2 update, adding spatial video recording functionality for iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.
The hashtag #iPhone15ProSupportsSpatialVideoRecording# also trended on Weibo today, sparking widespread discussion among netizens.
Since the recorded spatial videos can only be played on the ¥25,000+ Apple Vision Pro, some users commented:
- "This feature is useless if you don’t buy the headset."
- "Good news: The new iPhone supports spatial video recording. Bad news: It only works with the ¥20,000+ Apple Vision Pro."
- "Apple has mastered the art of bundling sales."
Apple stated that for optimal spatial video recording, the iPhone should remain stable in landscape orientation during filming. Videos are recorded at 30 frames per second with a resolution of 1080p.
It is reported that during the iPhone 15 Pro launch event, Apple announced the spatial video recording feature would be introduced later this year, viewable on the Apple Vision Pro headset.
When played on the Vision Pro, spatial videos provide an immersive 3D experience, making users feel as if they are present at the filming location.
At the iPhone 15 series launch, Apple confirmed the new models would support spatial video, allowing users to capture moments in 3D and relive these memories with stunning dimensionality when the Apple Vision Pro launches in early 2024 in the U.S.
