    Google AI

Google, as one of the world's largest internet companies, has been continuously exploring and innovating in the field of artificial intelligence (AI). Recently, at its developer conference I/O 2023, Google announced a series of new AI products and features, with the most notable being the introduction of AI-generated technology into the advertising sector, bringing new possibilities to ad creation.

Google Performance Max is a new advertising product launched by Google in 2023, designed to help advertisers maximize ad performance across Google's various platforms. One of the core features of Performance Max is leveraging AI-generated technology to assist in the creation and optimization of ad creatives.

Specifically, Performance Max can automatically generate ad headlines, descriptions, and related images based on the advertiser's provided objectives, budget, industry, and audience, as well as match the most suitable ad formats and distribution channels. Advertisers can preview and edit the generated ad creatives on the Performance Max interface or directly publish them to Google's search, video, image, map, social, and other platforms.

The generative AI functionality of Performance Max is based on Google's PaLM 2 model, released in 2022. This is a powerful language model with multilingual, reasoning, and coding capabilities, capable of generating high-quality text and image content. Google stated that Performance Max is the first commercial application of the PaLM 2 model and represents a significant innovation in the advertising field.

The advantage of Performance Max lies in its ability to provide powerful creative tools for advertising agencies and businesses without in-house creative teams, saving time and costs in ad production while improving ad quality and effectiveness. According to Google's data, Performance Max has already helped thousands of advertisers achieve an average 30% increase in conversion rates during the testing phase.

Google's AI strategy is not confined to the advertising sector but extends across search, maps, office applications, and hardware, demonstrating the company's ambition and capabilities as an AI-first organization.

During the I/O 2023 keynote, Google CEO Sundar Pichai emphasized that the core of Google's AI strategy is user-centric and innovation-driven, aiming to make AI more useful, accessible, and responsible. He also unveiled several recent advancements and achievements in AI, including:

    • Search: Google introduced a generative AI-powered "Help Me Write" feature, which generates complete email drafts based on user input, enhancing writing efficiency and quality.
    • Maps: Google launched the generative AI-based "Immersive View" feature, allowing users to preview 3D panoramic maps while planning routes, improving navigation experience and safety.
    • Office: Google introduced the generative AI-powered "Smart Tables" feature, which generates charts, reports, and recommendations based on user data and needs, boosting data analysis and decision-making capabilities.
    • Hardware: Google unveiled new devices like the Pixel Fold, Pixel Tablet, and Pixel 7A, powered by the Tensor G2 chip, showcasing its leadership in AI and mobile computing integration.

Google's AI strategy positively impacts the company's commercialization and product development. On one hand, it strengthens Google's core competitive advantages, enhances brand reputation and user loyalty, and expands market share and revenue streams. On the other hand, it drives product innovation and optimization, improving quality and performance to meet user needs and expectations.

Google's AI initiatives are far from over, as the company persistently explores and expands the future possibilities of artificial intelligence. At I/O 2023, Google revealed key insights and plans about AI's future, including:

    • Google will continue to invest heavily in AI research and development, with total investments in the field expected to reach $100 billion by 2025.
    • Google plans to collaborate and share AI advancements with more partners, including Meta Platforms, Anthropic, Nvidia, as well as enterprises and institutions across various industries.
    • Google will apply generative AI technologies in more scenarios and fields, including education, entertainment, healthcare, art, and across more languages and cultures.

The combination of Google and AI holds limitless imagination and potential. Google's AI strategy presents boundless opportunities and challenges—it is a continuous journey of exploration and innovation. Google's AI future paints a dynamic picture full of changes and possibilities. We look forward to Google continuing to demonstrate leadership and influence in the AI field, bringing more value and contributions to human society.
