Online Payment Provider Klarna Launches AI Image Search Tool
-
Swedish online payment and retail service provider Klarna has announced a series of new features aimed at enhancing the user shopping experience. The most notable is their AI image search tool 'Shopping Lens,' which allows users to quickly find products for purchase by taking photos. It covers over 10 million products, including clothing and electronics, and matches them with offers from more than 50 million stores in the app's search and comparison tools.
Additionally, users can compare prices, retailers, and reviews, as well as find similar products to the ones they photographed. This feature is currently available in the U.S., U.K., Germany, Sweden, Denmark, and Norway.
Klarna has also expanded its 'Shoppable Video' feature, which was first launched in the U.S. in October 2022 and is now available in the U.K., Germany, and Sweden. This feature aims to transform Klarna from just a payment app into a platform where consumers can discover and promote products through personalized video experiences. Klarna noted that average viewing time in the U.S. has increased by 60%, and click-through rates have risen by 25% since the introduction of 'Shoppable Video.'
Another new feature is in-store product scanning, where users can scan barcodes to access product information, including customer reviews, to check if different colors or variants are available online or if the product can be purchased cheaper elsewhere. This feature is available in the U.K., U.S., Sweden, Germany, Denmark, and Norway.
Klarna has also introduced a new cashback program. Shoppers in the U.K. can now receive up to 10% cashback on their purchases when choosing 'Pay Now,' 'Pay in 3,' or 'Pay Later.' Users can apply the cashback at checkout online or in the app for discounts on future purchases. Klarna plans to expand this cashback program to more markets in the future.
Additionally, Klarna has begun rolling out a single sign-on solution that allows users to log in and check out more smoothly at participating retailers, eliminating the need to create and remember multiple usernames and passwords. Retailers worldwide can now integrate this experience.
