China's Robotics Industry Maintains Steady Growth in the First Half of 2023
-
Wang Hong, Deputy Director of the First Department of Equipment Industry at the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, recently announced at the press conference for the 2023 World Robot Conference that China's robotics industry has maintained steady growth in the first half of this year. The production of industrial robots reached 222,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 5.4%, while the production of service robots reached 3.53 million units, up 9.6% year-on-year.
"China's robotics industry has achieved stable and healthy development, becoming a key force in the global robotics industry," Wang Hong noted. In 2022, the industry's total revenue exceeded 170 billion yuan, with industrial robot production reaching 443,000 units and service robot production hitting 6.458 million units, reflecting stable and positive industry performance.
Domestic industrial robots have been widely adopted in fields such as material handling, welding, and painting, penetrating emerging industries like new energy vehicles, photovoltaics, and lithium batteries. Service robots have seen large-scale applications in healthcare, construction, and elderly care, while specialized robots are playing an increasingly vital role in scientific exploration and emergency rescue. Currently, China's robotics industry is accelerating breakthroughs in cutting-edge technologies, continuously introducing innovative products, and expanding application scenarios.
Earlier this year, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, along with 16 other departments, issued the "Robot+ Application Action Implementation Plan" to accelerate the adoption of robotics across various industries. "Moving forward, we will further enhance industrial innovation capabilities, stabilize supply chains, and promote the 'Robot+' application initiative to drive high-quality development in the robotics industry," Wang Hong added.
The 2023 World Robot Conference, co-hosted by the Beijing Municipal Government, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and the China Association for Science and Technology, will take place in Beijing from August 16 to 22 under the theme "Open Innovation, Shared Future."
