AI Technology Propels Real-Time Interaction Industry into the HD Era, Reshaping Interactive Experiences
-
With the continuous iteration of hardware devices and the development of network infrastructure, internet users' demand for smoother experiences and visually stunning FHD and 4K high-definition quality has grown, especially in real-time interactive scenarios such as video calls and live streaming, where video quality is a key factor affecting user experience. On the 26th, Agora, a real-time interactive cloud service provider, officially launched a solution focused on enhancing video quality and user experience for real-time video scenarios, helping developers and enterprises achieve comprehensive upgrades in video quality, user experience, and interactive features.
Currently, whether it's long-video platforms like iQiyi, Youku, and Tencent Video, or short-video platforms like Bilibili, Douyin, and Kuaishou, all support ultra-clear video content such as HDR, 2K, 4K, and 8K. In real-time interactive scenarios like video calls and live streaming, video quality directly impacts user retention on platforms, and poor-quality experiences can easily become a key reason for losing top streamers. Agora's CTO and Chief Scientist, Sheng Zhong, pointed out that high-definition quality can effectively boost user watch time. According to Agora's data analysis, the average retention time per session for viewers in low-resolution channels is significantly lower than that in medium/high-resolution channels. Statistics from Agora's platform data show that high-definition quality increases user retention time by 10.3% compared to standard-definition quality.
It is reported that to address these pain points, Agora has comprehensively upgraded video quality, experience, and features in terms of clarity, aesthetics, and smoothness, particularly for scenarios like talent shows, e-commerce live streaming, sports events, multi-person screen sharing, and cross-room PK battles, leading real-time interaction into the HD era. "The AI inference engine is the cornerstone of real-time high-definition," said Qin Zexiong, Agora's R&D Director. In the pre-processing stage, AI-powered deep learning perception processing can improve video compression efficiency by 30%, while AI also brings varying degrees of enhancement during the encoding, transmission, and post-processing stages.
A report released by IDC in 2022 shows that as an industry pioneer, Agora continues to rank first in market share in the real-time audio and video communication (RTC) sector, with its 2021 market share exceeding the combined total of the 2nd to 8th players. Additionally, Agora's year-on-year growth in the RTC sector ranked first among all vendors.
