Musk: Tesla to Increase AI Engineers' Salaries to Prevent Poaching by OpenAI
-
According to media reports, Tesla CEO Elon Musk has taken decisive action in the face of intense talent competition by continuously raising the salary levels of artificial intelligence engineers. He posted on his social media platform X (formerly Twitter) revealing: Tesla is gradually increasing compensation for its AI engineering team based on progress milestones.
Musk pointed out that OpenAI, the creator of ChatGPT, has been actively poaching Tesla engineers with attractive high salaries, and unfortunately, they have succeeded in some cases.
Musk's post was in response to a report by The Information, which stated that Tesla's AI scientist Ethan Knight would join Musk's AI startup xAI. However, Musk quickly clarified: Ethan plans to join OpenAI, not xAI. It's worth mentioning that Musk was one of the founders of OpenAI but left due to disagreements with the initial team. Now, he is approaching the AI field in a diversified manner, not only promoting AI research for autonomous driving technology within Tesla but also founding the startup xAI to further expand the application boundaries of AI technology.
