According to media reports, Goldman Sachs analyst Jan Hatzius and his team stated in a recent research report that if generative AI achieves its promised capabilities, the labor market could face significant disruption.

Since the birth of AI technology, discussions about whether AI will lead to job losses have never ceased. Goldman Sachs' report indicates that, based on research of occupational data in the US and Europe, approximately two-thirds of jobs in the US are currently under some level of threat from AI automation. Generative AI is highly likely to replace one-quarter of all jobs.

Globally, generative AI could expose 300 million full-time jobs to automation. However, Goldman Sachs also points out that AI can compensate for the jobs it replaces by creating new positions, which will largely become the primary source of long-term employment growth.

According to Goldman Sachs' estimates, generative AI will increase annual labor productivity growth in the United States by nearly 1.5 percentage points over the next decade, and could ultimately raise global GDP growth by 7% annually.
