AI Image Editor Photoroom Raises $43 Million at a $500 Million Valuation

Photoroom is an AI-based photo editing application from Paris that is growing like a weed, targeting online business owners while also attracting a large number of casual users. The app has confirmed the completion of its latest funding round: $43 million, with the latest round valuing the company at $500 million. The co-founder, along with CTO Eliot Andres, stated that they jointly founded Photoroom. Alongside this funding round, the company continues to achieve significant adoption in an intensely competitive market. Other participants include Balderton Capital leading this investment round, with new investor Aglaé and previous investor Y Combinator also participating. Photoroom stated it currently processes approximately 5 billion images annually, with over 150 million app downloads, while also being accessible via API and web interface.
Other undisclosed but previous supporters include Kima Ventures, FJ Labs, Meta, as well as angel investors such as Yann LeCun, Zehan Wang (formerly of Magic Pony and Twitter), Hugging Face, Disney+, and others.
