February 23 News: Less than a month ago, OpenAI launched the highly anticipated GPT Store, enabling third-party users to create and share customized chatbots. Now, the platform has received new upgrades, including user ratings and more comprehensive builder profiles. However, unlike previously envisioned, OpenAI has still not realized the plan to share revenue with GPT creators based on the usage frequency of their custom GPTs.

    User Ratings and Private Feedback

OpenAI announced the updates to the GPT Store on social network X (formerly Twitter), including an animated GIF demonstrating how users can rate third-party GPTs. In the top-left corner of GPT, users can find the "Send feedback" option in the dropdown menu, which opens a new interactive element. This allows users to give a rating from 1 to 5 stars and provides a text box to send "optional private feedback" to the GPT creators. Additionally, there is a checkbox option for users to decide whether to leave their email address as the reviewer.

    Expanded GPT Builder Profiles

For GPT builders, they can now include more information in their account profiles when users click on their names. This information includes links to the builder's LinkedIn profile or personal page, X account, website, as well as details like average ratings, total number of ratings, and the total count of "conversations"—the number of sessions initiated using that GPT. These updates were rolled out after the ChatGPT issues earlier this week that affected many users. In that incident, an update caused the chatbot to start responding with meaningless gibberish.

While the store continues to expand its features, realizing OpenAI's vision of sharing revenue with GPT creators based on usage frequency remains an elusive goal. Behind this gradual upgrade is OpenAI's accelerated push for responsible AI development while providing GPT users with a more comprehensive experience. This also reflects the continuous evolution in the AI field and ongoing attention to user needs.
