Luo Yonghao: Oriental Selection Has Offered Dong Yuhui a Sky-High Price

According to reports, on the evening of December 17, Luo Yonghao revealed during a live broadcast on the "Make Friends" platform that credible sources indicated Oriental Selection has renewed Dong Yuhui's contract with an exorbitant price.
Luo Yonghao expressed happiness for Dong Yuhui while subtly criticizing Yu Minhong as a "stingy iron rooster," stating that although the current price is far from ideal, it is already a relatively good offer.
During the live broadcast that evening, Luo Yonghao explained why he has been persistently addressing Oriental Selection, stating that his goal is to help Dong Yuhui secure fairer treatment.
He also urged netizens not to criticize Oriental Selection or Yu Minhong and to avoid spreading negativity.
On the evening of December 16, during a live broadcast on Yu Minhong's personal Douyin account, Yu Minhong and Dong Yuhui addressed the heated public discussions. Regarding the salary issue, Dong Yuhui mentioned that he had already discussed it with Yu Minhong, saying, "Don’t worry, I won’t be treated unfairly," and emphasized that compensation is not his primary pursuit.
Luo Yonghao has repeatedly stated publicly that in the live-streaming e-commerce industry, profit distribution should follow objective rules. According to these rules, Dong Yuhui should receive at least half of the profits to be considered relatively fair.
During the live broadcast on the evening of the 17th, Luo Yonghao speculated, based on Dong Yuhui's remarks the previous day, that Yu Minhong had increased Dong Yuhui's salary but not to an exorbitant level.
When asked what would happen if the promised sky-high price was not delivered, Luo Yonghao said that if it were truly sky-high, he would hear about it. If it wasn’t or if the promise wasn’t fulfilled, he hoped it wouldn’t happen, adding, "I guess he wouldn’t dare—he’s stingy, but also timid."
"Among their generation, entrepreneurs born in the 50s and 60s, being a 'stingy iron rooster' is actually acceptable—it’s far from being bad," Luo Yonghao remarked. He added that if the promise wasn’t fulfilled, "Next time I do anything, as long as it’s legal, don’t try to stop me."
During the live broadcast on the evening of the 16th, Dong Yuhui also mentioned that his salary had already been significantly increased and was still being adjusted. "Teacher Yu even said that if I wanted to start my own business, he would invest in me," Dong Yuhui revealed.
Luo Yonghao, a former English teacher at New Oriental, commented that as someone who came from the same institution, he found such statements very familiar. "It’s not about being sinister or bad—it’s just posturing, and it’s tiresome," he said.
Luo Yonghao recalled that when he taught at New Oriental, the institution was very concerned about top teachers starting their own businesses—a understandable concern. However, the institution didn’t differentiate much in compensation between outstanding and mediocre teachers, creating a "big pot" system.
Back then, the boss often told them, "If you want to go out and do your own thing, I fully support you." Luo Yonghao remarked, "How shameless would it be for someone to leave an institution, compete with their former boss, and then ask for investment? It wouldn’t happen, so it’s just posturing."
Is the joint live broadcast between Dong Yuhui and Yu Minhong the final outcome? Luo Yonghao believes that while things have temporarily settled, the future remains uncertain. He expressed pessimism but hoped he was wrong.
Did Dong Yuhui back down? Luo Yonghao doesn’t think so. Instead, he believes Dong Yuhui made some trade-offs, compromises, and concessions for various reasons. While it’s not the best outcome, it’s already significant progress.
