Yesterday, Google quietly dropped a bombshell—NotebookLM has undergone its largest-ever language expansion upgrade. This star product, hailed as an AI learning assistant, has finally broken the shackles of English dominance by supporting 80 languages, including major ones like French, German, Spanish, and Japanese.

The core highlights of this upgrade focus on two major functional innovations. First, the highly anticipated video overview feature now boasts unprecedented language support. Users can effortlessly convert their notes, PDFs, and image materials into multilingual video presentations, completely eliminating the previous limitation of English-only support. For global users accustomed to learning in their native languages, this is undoubtedly a timely relief.

The audio overview feature has also seen a qualitative leap. Previously, non-English users could only access brief audio summaries, with the full version reserved for English speakers. Now, this technical barrier has been completely dismantled, with over 80 languages offering more in-depth and detailed audio overviews. Notably, Google has retained the option for shorter versions to cater to users who only need a quick grasp of key points.

Behind this large-scale functional upgrade lies Google's deep consideration of NotebookLM's globalization strategy. The company explicitly stated that these improvements aim to meet the growing demands of NotebookLM's international user base, ensuring that every user can engage in efficient learning through video or audio summaries, regardless of their preferred language.

Starting today, all users can experience these exciting new features. Google plans to complete the global rollout within the next week, meaning learners worldwide will soon enjoy the convenience brought by this linguistic liberation.
